My Role
The goal of this project was to improve user retention for Freshly Chopped by integrating ingredient delivery services within the existing app. The focus was on streamlining the user journey, from browsing recipes to managing a grocery list and completing the checkout process.
-
During this project, the lack of customer retention at Freshly Chopped was the problem the team needed to solve. Despite the app's initial success in attracting users, engagement levels were not sustainable. The goal was to address this retention issue and improve long-term customer loyalty. The team hypothesized that implementing a delivery service could increase user engagement, but more insights were needed to understand what users were specifically looking for from such a feature. By gaining a clearer understanding of user needs, the team could design a solution that would not only boost retention but also enhance the overall user experience. This focus on user-centered design would guide their decisions throughout the project.
Problem

The project successfully integrated ingredient delivery and grocery list features into the Freshly Chopped app, enhancing the user experience and engagement. Key changes included the addition of a standalone grocery page, streamlined recipe pages with quick-add buttons, and a new checkout page with delivery and pickup options. User testing revealed positive feedback on the intuitive design, leading to a more personalized and seamless shopping journey. These updates are expected to improve customer retention and drive long-term engagement, positioning Freshly Chopped as a more comprehensive platform for meal planning and ingredient shopping.
Solution
By combining ingredient sales, partnerships, premium subscriptions, and data insights, Freshly Chopped can create a sustainable revenue model while improving the user experience.
